A short spring break in the Mediterranean is always a good idea and, when the destination is Palma de Mallorca, it can be magical. The month of May heralds the beginning of the yachting season in the area and the Palma Superyacht Show, with its optimum timing, is the perfect opening act.
The island of Palma itself has a strong yachting personality and this makes it the ideal setting for a brokerage and charter show of excellence. It is the centre for brokerage sales of large sailing yachts in the Mediterranean and one of the most dynamic refit destinations in Europe. The weather is favourable, the atmosphere is relaxed and as far as chartering is concerned, Spain in now fully open to foreign-flagged yachts. It is a winning combination that is reflected in the Palma Superyacht Show.
The Palma Superyacht Show is unique by way of its fifty - fifty motor to sail ratio and is one of the few shows run by the industry for the industry. It provides a platform for brokerage and charter yachts above 24 metres and is conducted in partnership with MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association. The event has flourished since its debut in 2013 and the indications are that this year’s show will be the best to date with close to 70 yachts on display and 50 exhibitors. Remaining berths and stands are few and in high demand so, time is indeed of the essence.
Approximately 36.000 people visited the Show last year and this number is expected to increase significantly. Visitors to the 2015 Palma Superyacht show, which will run from the 30th of April to the 4th of May, will have the opportunity to view a fine array of yachts including the magnificent Mondango, a 51.8m sailing yacht built by Alloy Yachts, and there is also an eating & drinking lounge on the drawing board that will make you see “stars”.
The Palma Superyacht Show is more than a destination. It is an experience not to be missed.
