The anticipation is mounting up as PIBS & Palma Superyacht Village gear up the final preparations to welcome visitors to the yachting industry favorite show at Moll Vell Marina in downtown Palma. There is no denying that the rapidly changing scenarios and unsettling world events have kept us all on our toes, but here we are, organizers and exhibitors alike, ready to showcase the Balearic yachting at its best.
The expectation and desire to move on is palpable. While the exhibitors can´t wait to get out on the docks to meet clients and to do business, also the public in general seems to be more than ready to get some warm wind and sunshine on their faces. The Balearic Islands beckon as a safe and desirable destination for the travelers, which is reflected in a sharp increase in hotel and airline bookings already for the Easter holidays, even more so for the summer season, according to local media reports.
And indeed, what´s not to love? The Balearic Islands and Palma are a dream destination not only for yachting enthusiasts but also provide a perfect venue for a multitude of events. A well-known brand, the adventure company, Axopar from Finland for example, a manufacturer of superb boats for the perfect getaway and one of our loyal exhibitors, has decided to choose Port Calanova, Mallorca, as their headquarters during 28. April – 1. May. Axopar, together with the high-perfomance, luxury automotive car producer BRABUS, will launch new models, organise sea trials on boats and mountain escapades on thrilling bespoke motor bikes and cars. An influx of guests will be here to experience the best Mallorca has to offer – sea, mountains and fun in town. The timing is perfect, as Axopar´s guests will also have a chance to visit PIBS & Palma Superyacht Village and the impressive collection of smaller and larger yachts lining up the docks in downtown Palma.
And what a lineup it is! The brokerage and charter markets continue buzzing – after all, while the waiting lists for new constructions grow longer, the quickest and smoothest way to get one’s foot on a yacht is to charter one or purchase a tested & tried brokerage yacht. The turquoise bays and quiet coves of the Balearic Islands are ready to welcome the more tranquil sailors, while those keen to witness some action can follow or even participate in the many prestigious yacht regattas taking place in the Balearics, for example the Superyacht Cup, Copa del Rey and Ibiza Joysail. Now that Barcelona has emerged as the hosting city for the next America´s Cup, the action is bound spill over to Palma too.
Any sailor worth their salt will keep their binoculars focused, and those not quite there yet – now is the time to discover yachting!
